Another nine Islamic State terrorists surrender in Kunar

At least nine Daesh terrorists or so-called Islamic State loyalists have surrendered in eastern Kunar province, said a statement from the Afghan National Army (ANA).

The Daesh affiliates shun violence in Manogi district while handing over nine rifles to the government, said a statement from the ANA Selab Corps in east of the country.

The surrendering Daesh members apologized for the destruction and bloodshed they had caused over the past few years, saying they would compensate their misdeeds by contributing to the development and peace in Afghanistan.

The statement added that six other Daesh fighters surrendered to the government in the province last week as well.

The development takes place as the government claims to have suppressed the terrorist group in eastern Nangarhar province but reports reveal it has resurfaced with a strong footprint in neighboring Kunar.

This comes as last year in November, about 230 members of families affiliated with Daesh surrendered in Achin district of eastern Nangarhar province.
