A Turkish court has sentenced Islamic State member Arkan Taha Ahmad, one of the perpetrators of the Speicher Massacre in which 1,700 people were killed in Iraq.

The anti-terror police captured Arkan Taha Ahmad in a morning operation in Bolu province.

Ahmad is accused of being involved in activities within the Islamic State for which he was sought after by Interpol.

He was taken into custody following the operation, which was carried out under wide security measures.

Ahmad has been sentenced to two months house arrest by the court in Bolu.
