Three lawyers arrested over involvement with ISIS terrorist group south of Mosul

Three lawyers were arrested over involvement with Islamic State, south of Mosul, a source from Nineveh police was quoted saying on Saturday.

“Security troops arrested three lawyers of Nineveh Criminal Court over involvement with Islamic State members, while the group was in control of the city of Mosul,” Cap. Amir Wathiq told BasNews.

The lawyers, according to Wathiq, “were arrested from their homes in Qayyarah, south of Mosul and taken to the headquarters of Nineveh police command for investigations.”

On Friday, An Islamic State member was arrested, while huge some of money was confiscated in a village in Badush town, west of Mosul.

Last week, a source from Nineveh police said Iraqi troops arrested Islamic State’s security minister and the member in charge of the security detachments in two operations in Mosul. The Iraqi police arrested, on Wednesday, Taha Mohamed Salama, an Islamic State member who was in charge of the group’s mortar launchers. Nineveh police command announced, on Tuesday, 13 IS members were arrested in southeast of Mosul.

Thousands of Islamic State militants as well as Iraqi civilians were killed since the government campaign, backed by paramilitary troops and the coalition was launched in October 2016 to fight the militant group, which declared a self-styled “caliphate” from Mosul in June 2014.
Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi announced, in December, full liberation of Iraqi lands, declaring end of war against IS members.
