Bosnian national loses appeal of conviction for supporting terrorist

A Bosnian man residing in the U.S. saw the Eighth Circuit uphold Wednesday his conviction for providing material support to a terrorist, with the appeals court rejecting the argument that his funds went to a lawful combatant immune from prosecution.

Armin Harcevic gave $1,500 to Ramiz Hodzic, who took funds from fellow Bosnians and used services like Western Union and Paypal to transfer them to Abdullah Ramo Pazara and others. Pazara, who left the U.S. to fight in Syria, died in that country’s civil war in September 2014.
