Criminal gang with alleged connections to ISIS terrorist group is operating in Morocco

Morocco’s Police services (DGSN) arrested, on Friday in coordination with the central bureau for judiciary investigations (BCIJ), seven members of a dangerous criminal gang specialized in robbery, including their leader who is an ISIS advocate, said the interior ministry.
The gang, which includes ex-convicts, was operating in the cities of Fez, El Jadida and Bni Drar near Oujda, said the ministry in a statement.

This operation helped arrest the leader of this criminal group, a supporter of the Islamic State organization, and foil its plan to join the ranks of ISIS in Syria and Iraq where his three sons and wife are, said the same source, underlining that he intended to finance his trip with the money from his criminal activities.

The operation enabled the seizure of knives, a car, equipment and suspicious substances used in criminal activities.

The suspects will be brought to justice upon the completion of the investigation led under the supervision of the public prosecutor.
