Corpses of at least 38 women found in ISIS mass grave near Mosul

A new mass grave was found on Wednesday in northern Iraq in which 38 people, believed to have been killed by Islamic State (IS), were buried.

A police source told BasNews that the mass grave was discovered in Qabra village (some 40 kilometers West of Mosul).

It contains 38 remnants of bodies, all of whom are women, believed to have been killed by IS.

Investigations have begun to identify the victims, the source added.

Mosul, the second larges city in Iraq, fell into the hands of IS in June 2014. Three years later in 2017, the Iraqi army, backed by Kurdish Peshmerga forces and the US-led Coalition recaptured the city.

However, the area remains an IS target for terrorist attacks against both civilians and the security forces.
