US designates four TTP and AQIS leaders as global terrorists

The United States has designated four militants of Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan and Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent as global terrorists.

The list includes TTP’s Deputy Emir, Qari Amjad, who oversees operations and militants in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The other terrorists in the list are senior members of al-Qaeda, including Osama Mehmood, Atif Yahya Ghouri, and Muhammad Maruf.

In a statement in Washington, Secretary of State Antony Blinken reaffirmed the US commitment to ensure that terrorist groups do not use Afghanistan as a platform for international terrorism.

He said the United States is committed to using its full set of counter-terrorism tools to counter the threat posed by terrorist groups operating in Afghanistan, including al-Qaeda and Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan.
