Hamas official Abu Marzook tests positive for coronavirus

Abu Marzook said in a tweet on Tuesday that he has tested positive for the coronavirus. .

He said he is in good health condition and prayed for the swift recovery all those suffering from the disease.

In his tweet, he also cited verse 51 of Surah al-Tawbah (51) of the Holy Quran: “Say: ‘Nothing will befall us except what Allah has ordained. He is our Guardian. In Allah, let the believers put their trust.’”

Hamas has declared a partial lockdown in the Gaza Strip since cases of the coronavirus were reported in the coastal enclave.

Abu Marzook was elected as the first Hamas political bureau chief in 1992, and since 1997 has been deputy chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau.
