Heavy fighting between Al-Shabaab terrorists and Amisom troops near the Kenyan border

Al-Shabaab militants on Tuesday attacked Amisom troops in two areas near the Kenyan border, residents and media sources have reported.

The heavily armed Al-Shabaab fighters attacked Kenyan forces, which are part of the African Union Mission in Somalia (Amisom), in Afmadow and Hosingow areas in Lower Jubba region, southern Somalia.

The extent of the casualties resulting from the clashes remains unknown.

The Al-Qaeda-linked militant group regularly carries out attacks against Somali and Amisom forces in southern Somalia.
