Aziz al-Lami is an Iran-backed PMF militia leader, tasked by other senior militia commanders with suppressing the October 2019 protests in Iraq. Al-Lami was part of a committee of IRGC-QF proxies that approved the use of lethal violence against protesters for the purpose of public intimidation.
