Five security elements were injured on Wednesday by an roadside bomb explosion during an operation against ISIS in Narin area on the outskirts of the disputed Khanaqin district between Erbil and Baghdad, which is currently affiliated to Diyala province.

A security source told Shafaq News, “A roadside bomb exploded in Narin area on the outskirts of Khanaqin district, 105 km northeast of Baquba, targeting a security patrol, which resulted in the injury of 5 members of the patrol “.

“A security force transported the injured elements to a medical center for treatment and launched an inspection campaign to find the perpetrators of the attack,” he added.

In a related context, Diyala Police Command announced on Wednesday, that four dens of ISIS terrorists had been destroyed in a security operation in Al-Fatta district, north of Baquba city.

Diyala police chief Major General Hamid Khalil al-Shammari said in a statement received by “Shafaq News” that “a security force from Diyala’s 8th and 9th emergency regiments, the explosives control department, the communications department, the police dogs section and the engineering effort team, have embarked on a security operation to search villages and orchards within Al-Abara sector, adding, “The operation aims to secure villages and orchards in those areas to prevent infiltration of terrorist elements and prevent them from finding a safe haven in the province.”

Al-Shammari added, “The operation resulted in the destruction and burning of four ISIS dens, which they exploit to carry out their terrorist operations, and also resulted in the seizure of a missile.”
