ISIS leader Baghdadi calls for fighters to spring thousands of jihadis

ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has called on his followers to spring jailed jihadi fighters and their brides such as Shamima Begum from detention camps.

Tens of thousands of jihadi brides and their children are living in camps in northern Syria and Iraq, while captured ISIS prisoners are being held in jails in the two countries.

After years in hiding Baghdadi has now surfaced to release an audio message, which follows a video earlier this year.

In his latest message, he said the camps were run by “Crusaders” and their “Shia allies” and called on his followers to free jihadis and their brides.

“The prisons, the prisons, soldiers of the caliphate!” he said in the audio released by the ISIS media unit, known as al-Furqan, The Times reports.

“Do your utmost to rescue your brothers and sisters and break down the walls that imprison them.”

Begum left her home in east London and travelled to Syria to join ISIS and married Dutch jihadi fighter.

She was tracked down to the al-Hawl refugee camp earlier this year before she moved to the al-Roj camp, both in northern Syria.

Begum remains there after being stripped of her British citizenship by the then Home Secretary Sajid Javid.

It has been estimated that between 14,000 and 18,000 ISIS supporters are either still engaged in terrorist activities or ready to do so.

In July, video emerged showing women and kids raising the ISIS flag at the al-Hawl refugee camp.

The footage was circulated among ISIS fanatics with the message: “This is not the end but the beginning, because our mothers and sisters know how to grow cubs to become fearless lions.”

The notorious refugee camp, which houses 70,000 people, has grown in size in recent months due to the collapse of ISIS.

In the audio message, al-Baghdadi also discusses attacks in eight countries over four days carried out by ISIS militants on 92 different targets.

He calls the coordinated assaults, which he says have not all been reported on, “unprecedented in modern jihadist history.”

The extremist also mentions countries where ISIS still have cells, aside from Iraq and Syria, including Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia, Tunisia and Libya.

This comes less than five months after the twisted cult leader emerged in an video message revealing that he is still alive.

Experts believe that the frequency of the messages could be a sign that Baghdadi is critically ill and is attempting to rally his followers before he passes away.

He is thought to be hiding in the deserts of eastern Syria and has recently appointed his successor Abdullah Qardash who will oversee the rebuild of ISIS, according to the death cult’s propaganda arm Amaq.
