Islamic State cells target Syrian military patrol east of Deir ez-Zor

SOHR sources say that gunmen, believed to be ISIS cells, targeted with machine guns a military patrol of the Syrian Democratic Forces in the village of Al-Zar in eastern rural Deir al-Zour, but no casualties have been reported so far.

Yesterday, Syrian Observatory activists documented the death of an SDF fighter after being shot in Al-Kawashiyah village of Markadah town in southern Al-Hasakah.

Meanwhile, unknown gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on another SDF fighter in Abu Hamam town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, while he was on his way home. The fighter managed to hide in a house and survived the assassination attempt.

A few hours ago, SOHR sources reported that unknown gunmen on a motorcycle shot dead a guard working at the building of “Al-Shaa’b Council” in Hajin town in Deir Ezzor countryside.

This incident coincided with the escalating operations by ISIS cells in SDF-held areas in Deir Ezzor countryside.
