Islamic State terrorist plot failed in Nangarhar

National security forces thwarted ISIS plot to assassinate an ethnic leader in Nangarhar.

A suicide bomber who was responsible for the assassination was arrested before reaching his target this morning.

According to reports, the tribal leader was to be the target of a suicide attack after praying in front of a mosque in Jalalabad.

Ataullah Khogyani, spokesman for Nangarhar governor told BNA that the suicide bomber was arrested while riding a car bomb.

He confirmed that the assailant was a member of the ISIS group and intended to assassinate an ethnic leader in front of a mosque in the city.

The ISIS group has not yet said anything about this.
