Islamic State terrorists kidnapped two fishermen near the Hamrin Lake

Two fishermen were kidnapped by a group of gunmen on Monday (October 4) near Hamrin Lake in Diyala governorate, with one of the men later found dead.

Spokesperson of Diyala Police Directorate Nihad Mohammed told NRT the two men were abducted while they were returning home from the lake.

The fate of the other man is not yet known.

“Daesh militants are behind this,” Mohammed said, referring to the Islamic State (ISIS) group.

ISIS is active in the rugged area around the Hamrin Mountains. In the past, it has kidnapped and killed civilians from nearby areas.
