The report claims that since 2014, 117 suicide attacks have taken place in the Lake Chad basin region in Africa and 80% of these incidents have involved bombs strapped to girls.
Almost 1,500 children were detained last year, a Unicef spokeswoman said, as people fear their intentions when they are near checkpoints or markets in Chad, Cameron, Nigeria and Niger.
Uncief also claimed that many girls are kidnapped by the group, saying: “Young girls are spotted in the markets, and nighttime raids drag them from their beds. In some cases, parents are killed in front of the girls during the process.
“This is typically followed by an extended journey to a Boko Haram base in the forest where the girls are forced into early marriage and sexual slavery.”
This report has also been released on the third anniversary of the abduction of the Chibok schoolgirls by Boko Haram, Sky News said.
A total of 276 schoolgirls were taken by the group and although some managed to escape, many were forced into marriage and became pregnant.
