Kurdish man freed from Islamic State captivity after $50,000 paid in ransom

Late on Wednesday, the Islamic State (IS) militants freed another Kurdish abductee whom was kidnapped a month ago near the Kurdish disputed town of Qara Tappa, Diyala province.

Mounir Ali, a resident of Khanaqin, was freed by the IS militants after his family paid $50,000 in ransom, a local official confirmed.

Ali is the second abductee to be released by IS for a huge ransom in the past few days. Five others are still captive while the last person is said to be already executed by the jihadist group.

The group of eight civilians were kidnapped last month outside Qara Tappa.

Earlier this week, BasNews reported that another abductee was freed after $50,000 ransom was paid by his family.
