Man aged 18 from south-east London arrested for spreading terrorist material

A teenager has been held for sharing terrorist material.

On the morning of Wednesday, 24 February, officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command arrested an 18-year-old man at a residential address in south east London.

The man was arrested on suspicion of dissemination of terrorist publications, contrary to Section 2 of the Terrorism Act 2006. The arrest was made under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE).

He was taken to a South London police station where he remains at this time.

While in custody the man was subsequently detained under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

Searches of the address are ongoing.
