Mumbai’s Taj Hotel received bomb threat call from Pakistani Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist

Security has been tightened at and around Mumbai’s Taj Hotel and Taj Lands End hotel after the authorities received a bomb threat call from Pakistan.

A person who claimed to be a member of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror outfit made a call to the two iconic hotels at around 12 midnight on Monday and threatened to blow them up, reports said.

Following the bomb threat call, heavy security forces have been deployed outside the hotels and all roads leading to them have been closed.

“Security tightened outside Taj Hotels and nearby areas after a threat call was received yesterday from Karachi, Pakistan to blow up the hotels with bombs,” the Mumbai Police was quoted as saying by ANI.

The caller first called the staffers of the Taj Mahal Palace in Colaba and threatened to attack the hotel as it was targetted in November 2008. He then made a call to the staffers at the Taj Lands End in Bandra and said that the hotel would be attacked by their members. Both the calls were reportedly received from the same Pakistan number.

The calls were made on a day four heavily armed terrorists attacked the Pakistan Stock Exchange building in Karachi, killing three security guards and a police officer before being shot dead by security forces.
