U.S: The final offensive against ISIS terrorists begins
The final offensive against ISIS in Syria is beginning, the US State Department has said.
State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert on Tuesday said the US, global coalition and local partners, including Syrian democratic forces, are launching operations to free the last ISIS stronghold in Syria – an offensive announced earlier by Pentagon chief James Mattis.
The “days of ISIS controlling territory and terrorizing the people of Syria are coming to an end”, said Nauert.
“The fighting will be difficult, but we and our partners will prevail,” she said.
Nuaert also said the US will work with Nato ally Turkey as well as with partner countries Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Lebanon to safeguard their borders from ISIS, recalling that Washington will seek further contributions in terms of forces, material and resources from its regional partners and allies to stabilize territories retaken from the terrorist group.
