Housewife charged with possessing ISIS propaganda materials

A housewife claimed trial at the High Court here to possessing terrorism propaganda including images and videos related to the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group.

Fauziahanim Abdullah, 51, pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to her before Justice Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali here Tuesday (Oct 16).

The accused was charged with having in her possession 61 images and 51 videos related to IS and terrorist acts in her smartphone.

Fauziahanim, who is a mother of two, allegedly committed the offence in front of an elevator at the 14th floor of Kompleks Suria Kinrara, Puchong, in Selangor at 4.38pm on May 9, this year.

The charge under Section 130JB(1)(a) of the Penal Code carries a maximum seven years’ jail or a fine and possible forfeiture of the items, if convicted.

The court fixed Nov 14 for mention, and the court also fixed a four-day trial of the case beginning April 22 next year.

DPP Muhammad Fadzlan Mohd Noor prosecuted while the accused was represented by lawyer Adi Zulkarnain Zulkafli.
