Russian prosecutors block overseas website by sending false terrorist reports

The Prosecutor General’s Office along with the communications watchdog Roskomnadzor have restricted access to information resources of the overseas online resource Startmail.com where from false terrorist reports had been sent, according to the Federal Security Service’s (FSB) press office.

From late November 2019 up to date, the foreign website Startmail.com (the Netherlands) sent over 1,000 anonymous e-mails to judicial authorities in 16 regions of Russia containing terrorist threats, the statement reads.

FSB stated that during this period the malefactors “mined” more than 16,000 public amenities including schools, kindergartens, hospitals, transport object, courts and others. All threats had a false nature, according to the law enforcement.
