Saudi citizen gets 7 years in jail for attempt to join ISIS terrorist group

Saudi judiciary sentenced on Wednesday a Saudi citizen to imprisonment and banned him from traveling for pledging allegiance to ISIS and seeking to join it in Syria, taking his wife and children with him.
The convict admitted that he supported ISIS and traveled to Turkey to go to Syria and join the group. He also confessed that he covered up a group of people who had traveled to Syria to take part in the battle there and he also brought his children to the conflict zones.

The first convict traveled to Ukraine with his family to escape from authorities and prepare and send through Telegram what can disrupt the public order as well as contact persons through it to coordinate his travel to Syria.

The court sentenced him to seven years in prison and banned him from traveling for seven years.

The second convict – wife of the first convict – confessed that she was willing to travel to Syria with her husband and children, covered her husband up despite knowing his will to join ISIS, not reporting the accomplices, preparing and sending material that can disrupt the public order through her communication with a woman on Telegram and deceiving her children.

The court sentenced her to two years in prison and banned her from traveling for three years.

The third convict – sister of the first convict – admitted that she was willing to travel with her brother and was covering him up although she knew he was traveling to Syria to join ISIS.

She was sentenced to a year and six months in prison and banned from traveling for two years.
