Activities:

After being discharged from the Georgian military, Batirashvili became jihadist and served in various command positions with Islamist militant groups fighting in the Syrian Civil War.


In 2013, he joined IS and rapidly became a senior commander in the organization, directing a series of battles and ultimately earning a seat on ISIL’s shura council.


In December 2013, Tarkhan known as, Abu Omar al-Shishani promoted Ikanovic to head of the ISIS’s largest military training camp in northern Syria.
