ISIS terrorists killed six SDF fighters in Deir Ezzor

At least 6 SDF fighters were killed in Daesh attacks on their checkpoints in eastern Deir Ezzor province, activist said Saturday.

Taj al-Allow said two fighters from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were killed by an improvised explosive device in the town of al-Ghranij. Two days after four more fighters were killed by Daesh near the town.

The Daesh-linked Aamaq news agency said 4 SDF fighters were also killed in surprise attack on their bastion in the Shuaitat area. Also four SDF fighters were found beheaded near the town of Sour.

In its turn, the US-backed group has killed at least 30 Daesh militants over the week.

The SDF seized half of the village of Bagouz al-Fouqani, last Daesh stronghold in eastern Syria.

SDF launched with the help of the U.S.-led coalition a wide offensive last week to capture the last pocket held by IS in Syria.

The Kurdish-led forces have been among the most effective in the fight against Daesh in Syria, forcing them out of much of the country’s east.

Despite losing most of the territory it held between Iraq and Syria since its peak in 2014, Daesh remains a disruptive force in both countries. Its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, urged his followers to “persevere” in an audiotape attributed to him last month.
