Diyala Operations Commander, Major General Ghassan Khaled Al-Ezzi revealed today, Sunday, that one ISIS terrorist was killed and several sites of the organization were destroyed, during a security operation in the vicinity of Khanaqin district, 105 km northeast of Baquba.

Al-Ezzi told Shafaq News agency that joint forces from Diyala operations carried out, within 48 hours, comprehensive pre-emptive operations in the vicinity of Khanaqin, the northern and northwestern part of the country, to locate ISIS terrorist spots and dens, killing one of the terrorists, destroying 3 ISIS dens and dismantled explosive devices.

In addition, He added that Khanaqin area is now fully secured, and that operations are still ongoing to track ISIS remnants in Khanaqin villages.

The outskirts of Khanaqin district, which is a disputed area between Erbil and Baghdad, has been subjected to recurrent bombing attacks that resulted in many causalities among citizens and security personnel.
