Three terrorists killed in fire exchange with police forces in North Sinai

The Interior Ministry announced on Thursday killing of three terrorists in North Sinai after an exchange of fire with the police, in a press statement.

According to the statement, the National Security Sector obtained information that a group of terrorist elements is present in the Jalbana area in North Sinai, as they plan for a series of attacks on security checkpoints in the same area.

Once they received the information, security bodies moved immediately to determine the location of these terrorist elements.

The forces tracked three of those elements riding a motorcycle as they are poised to launch an attack. The terrorists fire heavily towards the forces, and then fire exchange was launched leading to the killing of the elements, and the seizure of their weapons.

The weapons included: two automatic rifles, a gun, a quantity of ammunition and two hand grenades. All legal procedures have been taken, and investigations kicked off into the incident.

This comes as part of the ministry’s continued efforts in tracking and prosecuting terrorist elements involved in hostile operations that claimed the lives of many martyrs among the armed forces, the police and ordinary people.
