Yezidi mother with three children freed from ISIS terrorist group in Syria

A Kurdish Yezidi mother with her three children was liberated from Islamic State (IS) on Thursday in eastern Syria.

The mother, in her early 30s, and her three children were abducted by IS during the group’s massacre of Sinjar back in August 2014, a Kurdish official confirmed to BasNews.

They were rescued by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Baghoz, the last enclave remaining under the control of IS in Syria.

Hussein Qa’edi, head of Kurdistan Region’s special office for Yezidi abductee affairs, said the number of freed Yezidis since 1st January has now reached 45.

The total number of Yezidis liberated from IS is now 3,359, Qa’edi said, noting that thousands more are still missing.

He called on the international community to step up the efforts in locating and rescuing the remaining Yezidi abductees.
