Ariana Grande faces death threats from ISIS extremists
Pop superstar Ariana Grande is facing renewed death threats from ISIS extremists as she prepares to return to Manchester for the first time since the tragic 2017 bombing at her concert that claimed 22 lives and injured over 130 others.
According to RadarOnline, encrypted messages on Telegram – a platform frequently used by extremist groups – have surfaced, with one chillingly stating, “She needs to die.”
Grande is scheduled to headline Manchester Pride on Sunday, August 25, marking her first performance in the city since the benefit concert she organized following the 2017 attack.
The upcoming event is part of a limited series of shows supporting her new music album and the release of the “Wicked” film adaptation.
The 2017 Manchester Arena bombing was carried out by Islamic extremist Salman Abedi, who detonated a shrapnel-laden homemade bomb as concertgoers were leaving the venue. The attack was the deadliest act of terrorism in Britain since the 2005 London bombings.
Heightened security measures implemented
In response to the recent threats, Manchester Pride organizers have announced a “ring of steel” security strategy around the 9,000-capacity outdoor venue, a former railway depot. Attendees will undergo enhanced screening procedures, and a strict clear-bag policy will be enforced. An increased police presence is also expected to ensure the safety of all participants.
A security insider emphasized the seriousness of the threats, noting that targeting an Ariana Grande concert again would guarantee maximum publicity for extremist groups. The fact that she is performing at a gay pride festival, which represents values opposed by such groups, further heightens the risk.
Grande has previously described the 2017 bombing as “the absolute worst of humanity.” Her return to Manchester is seen by many as a symbol of resilience and defiance against terrorism.
Authorities are urging attendees to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as they work to ensure a safe and secure environment for the event.
