Motorcycle bomb kills 2, wounds 5 in Southwest Pakistan

A motorcycle bomb explosion in southwest Pakistan on Sunday night killed two people and wounded five, according to Pakistani media reports.

The incident is the latest in a series of unrest in Balochistan province, where militants have targeted a naval facility and a government building in recent weeks.

The blast occurred in Khuzdar, a city situated on the main highway linking the provincial capital, Quetta, with Karachi, the port city in the neighboring Sindh province.

The attack’s perpetrators have not yet been identified.

Speaking to local media, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Arif Zarkon said that the wounded include a woman and two police officers.

Balochistan has experienced a protracted low-level insurgency, with groups seeking independence from Islamabad. Despite government claims of suppressing the insurgency, violence continues in the region.

Last Saturday, an improvised explosive device (IED) attack resulted in one death and 14 injuries, including three soldiers.
