11 Houthi terrorist drones shot down by US forces

U.S. forces in the Middle East shot down 11 attack drones launched in two waves by Iran-backed Houthi terrorists in Yemen on Wednesday. The drone attacks come as U.S. officials have warned that Iran could launch an attack against Israel over the recent killing of an Iranian military commander.

In a statement on X, formerly Twitter, U.S. Central Command said, “Between approximately 4:15 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. (Sanaa time) on April 10, U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) forces successfully engaged three unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) launched from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen.”

U.S. Central Command noted that two of the attack drones were launched over the Gulf of Aden, while one was launched over the Red Sea. According to U.S. Central Command, no damage or injuries were reported by U.S. military forces, coalition partners, or commercial ships in the region from the Wednesday morning drone attack.

U.S. Central Command reported that a second drone attack was launched between 7:50 and 8:00 p.m. Sanaa time from parts of Yemen controlled by Houthi terrorists. U.S. Central Command noted that U.S. forces “successfully engaged and destroyed” eight unmanned attack drones in “self-defense.”

“It was determined the UAVs presented an imminent threat to U.S., coalition, and merchant vessels in the region,” U.S. Central Command stated. “These actions are taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for U.S, coalition, and merchant vessels.”

The Daily Wire reported that Wednesday’s drone attacks by Houthi terrorists in the Middle East come as the United States remains alert to the possibility of an Iranian attack or Iran-affiliated attack against Israel in retaliation for the death of Mohammed Reza Zahedi, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’s Quds Force in Syria and Lebanon.

Last Friday, a U.S. official warned that U.S. forces were “definitely at a high state of vigilance.” According to The Daily Beast, President Joe Biden confirmed Wednesday that Iran is currently threatening a “significant attack on Israel.”

“As I told Prime Minister Netanyahu, our commitment to Israel’s security against these threats from Iran and its proxies is ironclad,” Biden said. “Let me say it again, ironclad. We’re gonna do all we can to protect Israel’s security.”
