Local authorities said they have discovered another mass grave of Kurdish Yezidis slaughtered by the Islamic State (IS) in a village outside Sinjar.
Speaking to BasNews on Sunday, Kheyri Ziban, a member of Sinjar mayoral council, confirmed the report and said the victims were collectively put into a well at a house in Gir Zerik village.
The number of victims in the new mass grave is not known so far, he stated.
Specialized teams and relevant authorities have been notified about the mass grave so to begin the exhumation soon, according to Ziban.
The IS jihadists attacked Sinjar on 3rd August 2014 after they seized control of Mosul in northern Iraq. They massacred thousands of civilians and kidnapped many more.
Hundred of thousands of Yezidis were displaced at the result of the brutal acts of the extremist group. More than 3,000 people abducted by IS are still missing.
