Counter-Terrorism Service arrests 4 terrorists in Nineveh, Sulaymaniyah

The Iraqi Security Media Cell (ISMC) announced on Tuesday that the Counter-Terrorism Service arrested four terrorists in the governorates of Nineveh and Sulaymaniyah.

The ISMC mentioned in a statement that counter-terrorism personnel carried out a security operation to arrest two terrorists in Nineveh governorate, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported.

The statement illustrated that two terrorists were arrested in Sulaymaniyah governorate in a separate security operation.

The Iraqi Directorate of General Military Intelligence (DGMI) announced last week the arrest of 16 terrorists belonging to ISIS in different Iraqi governorates.

The DGMI illustrated that the suspects were working for the terrorist group ISIS as fighters and intelligence personnel, noting that they were handed over to the concerned authorities to complete investigations.

In mid-November, the Iraqi Air Force destroyed a hideout belonging to ISIS and killed two terrorists in Salah Al-Din governorate, north of Baghdad.

Iraq announced in late 2017 the liberation of all its territories from the grip of ISIS, but the authorities are constantly launching security operations to pursue remnants of the terrorist group that carry out attacks from time to time in the country.
