Five alleged Islamic State terrorists arrested in Anbar

Five suspected Islamic State (ISIS) members were arrested and one killed in the Rutba desert in western Iraq’s Anbar governorate, Security Media Cell said on Wednesday (June 8).

A statement from the Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency said a “dangerous terrorist group” was observed in Rutba, according to Iraqi News Agency (INA).

The Iraqi Air Force targeted a hideout allegedly used by the group with air strikes and destroyed it, afterwards arresting a suspect who was wounded in the bombardments, INA reported.

The body of one of the members was also discovered and the Counter Terrorism Service was able to arrest other members of the group who attempted to escape in a vehicle, according to the statement from the intelligence agency.
