Leaders of ISIS mercenary cells are in areas occupied by Turkey

Brigadier General Ali al-Hassan said that those who run ISIS mercenary cells in al-Hol camp are leaders who are present in the occupied areas by Turkey and provide them with intelligence and support, and stressed that the “humanitarian and security” campaign is going with good results to eliminate the cells in al-Hol.

On August 25, the Internal Security Forces launched the second phase of the “Humanity and Security” campaign in Al-Hol camp, after the increased activity of ISIS mercenary cells in conjunction with the Turkish threats and attacks on northern and eastern Syria.

And about the progress of the campaign and its results so far and the main objectives of it, the Brigadier General and member of the General Command of the Internal Security Forces for North and East Syria, Ali al-Hassan, spoke to our agency.

Regarding the reasons for its launch and its main objectives, Ali Al-Hassan said: “Our forces launched the humanitarian and security campaign in its second phase with the support of the Syrian Democratic Forces and the International Coalition Forces in Al-Hol camp, after the danger of ISIS terrorist cells increased within the camp, as a result of the dangerous security conditions, in addition to our humanitarian responsibility. in protecting the residents of al-Hol camp.

Leaders in the occupied territories run ISIS cells

Al-Hassan noted, “This campaign was launched despite the threats surrounding the region by the Turkish occupation. We are trying with our great effort to control the security situation, despite the attempts of major regional countries with intelligence operations to find loopholes within the Al-Hol camp and take advantage of this chaos.”

On the benefit of ISIS sleeper cells from the Turkish escalation and threat inside al-Hol camp, al-Hassan continued, “We said previously in the press conference, that there was a big plan to control al-Hol camp in conjunction with the attack on al-Sina’a prison in al-Hasakah. There is coordination between sleeper cells inside and outside the camp with leaders of these cells, they manage and provide them with intelligence, security and material support, and are located in the areas occupied by Turkey.”

ISIS cells were increasing and carrying out killings in the camp

Al-Hassan revealed that they had thwarted attempts to control al-Hol camp from the outside, “but the cells kept getting more and more ferocious in carrying out operations against civilians, as the number of victims this year reached 44, including 14 women and two children, so they used murder and field executions as part of their plans, pistols with silencers, and shotguns.” All these conditions combined, in addition to spreading extremist ideology among children, training them and spreading inflammatory propaganda against our forces, members of the Internal Security Forces, as well as workers within humanitarian organizations inside al-Hol camp led to the launch of the campaign in its phase the second”.

Turkish direct cell support

Regarding the presence of evidence confirming Turkish support for these active cells inside al-Hol camp, al-Hassan stressed, “It was announced more than once about the existence of cells linked to direct Turkish support from the areas controlled by the Turkish occupation, so our forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces have always been the impenetrable dam against this chaos inside and outside the camp.

During the course of their operations, the Internal Security Forces removed tents in which extremist propaganda was spread and children were educated and trained. On this issue, Brigadier General Ali al-Hassan said, “Our forces removed 54 tents that were used to train children on ISIS ideology and the use of weapons and set up field courts within them, in addition to the discovery of 8 trenches, 33 mercenaries from ISIS sleeper cells were arrested and 48 people suspected of belonging to these cells and investigations are continuing.

“We will announce the results later and very soon,” he said.

Concerning the trenches that were found, he said, “The trenches and tunnels that we discovered were used after carrying out criminal operations against civilians, as they hide in them after carrying out the assassinations, and move between the tents through them.”

The international community must assume its responsibilities

Regarding the international community’s disregard for solving the dilemma of al-Hol camp, al-Hassan said, “During the press conference, we called on all countries of the world, especially those that have nationals within al-Hol camp, to move and take responsibility and participate with us, as we are the Internal Security Forces, the Syrian Democratic Forces and the institutions of the Autonomous Administration do our duty towards Al-Hol camp, but we need international support and great efforts to control the camp. We are talking about about 60,000 people who are in Al-Hol camp, this number is not easy, it is a very large number, for the families of ISIS who are inside the camp and are working on spreading propaganda and training children on the extremist ideology.

Brigadier General Ali Hassan confirmed in his speech that the “Humanity and Security” campaign has drawn up strategic plans, is proceeding without any obstacles and has positive results, and its main goal is to eliminate ISIS mercenary cells within the camp.
