Nasrallah meets visiting Iranian Foreign Minister

Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah on Friday met Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who is visiting Beirut.

According to a statement posted on the website of Hezbollah’s Al-Manar TV, “the meeting discussed the latest developments and the political situation in Lebanon, Occupied Palestine and the entire region” and concentrated on what was described as “the threats made by the Israeli enemy’s officials after the formation of the new government composed of extremists and corrupts.”

Nasrallah and his guests also discussed the role of the axis of resistance in confronting the regional and international incidents as well as developments, the statement said.

Iran is a major backer of Hezbollah and has provided fuel to Lebanon, in a shipment organized by Hezbollah.

Amir-Abdollahian, who previously visited Lebanon in October of 2021, has vowed that Iran will continue its support to the Lebanese “resistance” despite pressures.

The meeting between Nasrallah and the Iranian Foreign Minister follows recent rumors regarding the Hezbollah leader’s health.

In late December, Hezbollah abruptly cancelled a scheduled speech by Nasrallah, claiming he had a flu infection and was “receiving the appropriate treatment”.

Subsequent reports from Lebanon and Saudi Arabia claimed that Nasrallah in fact suffered a stroke last week and has been incapacitated.

Nasrallah, however, gave his speech several days later, rejecting the reports and saying that “there is no need to panic”.
