Germany sentences Syrian refugee to prison for fighting with ISIS

A German court convicted a Syrian refugee of fighting alongside the Islamic State (ISIS) terror organization in Syria.

According to a report from the Associated Press, a German court in Dusseldorf sentenced Saleh A. to seven years in prison after finding him guilty of being an Islamic State member and carrying out killings in Syria.

The AP report stated Saleh A. is a Syrian national in his 30s, but did not post where he was from inside Syria or when he fought.

The alleged ISIS member admitted to killing a Syrian government sniper and plotting to carry out an attack in Dusseldorf.

The court concluded no such plans existed, but counted his cooperation with German security services in his favor.
