Tajikistan warns about growing terrorism threat from Afghanistan

The situation on the Afghan-Tajik border remains complex, Tajikistan’s Security Council Secretary Nasrullo Mahmudzoda said at the meeting of the regional dialogue on Afghanistan in New Delhi.

The terrorism threat emanating from Afghanistan is growing, he said.

Mahmudzoda reminded Tajikistan has a lengthy border with Afghanistan and for this reason the country has found itself on forefront of counteraction to spread of threats of terrorism, extremism, drug smuggling into the region.

Tajikistan is ready to provide its logistical capacity for delivery of aid to Afghanistan, he said.

He urged for mobilization of immediate efforts of international community in order to meet basic needs of people of Afghanistan amid shortage of food and coming of winter.
