4 ISIS terrorists killed by Iraqi security in Diyala governorate

The Iraqi Security Media Cell (ISMC) announced on Monday the killing of four terrorists in Diyala governorate in central-eastern Iraq after their hideout was destroyed by Iraqi security forces, the state news agency (INA) reported.

The ISMC clarified in a statement that the Iraqi Air Force, using F-16 fighter jets, destroyed a hideout in Qara Tapa town in Diyala governorate where four terrorists belonging to ISIS group were hiding, according to INA.

The ISMC elaborated that the operation is part of the approach of a security plan based on accurate intelligence information from the Directorate of General Military Intelligence (DGMI), in coordination with the Joint Operations Command.

In 2017, Iraq announced the elimination of ISIS group after it occupied about a third of the country following nearly three and a half years of confrontations before the Iraqi security forces take full control of the territories ISIS occupied.

Although the Iraqi security forces are imposing full control over the Iraqi lands since 2017, some hiding ISIS terrorists are still active in some areas of the country, but the Iraqi forces carry out air strikes and targeting operations against the remaining terrorists belonging to ISIS.
