Islamic State terrorists attacked military posts in the Al-Mayadeen desert

Reliable sources have informed SOHR that ISIS members unleashed an attack on military posts of the regime-backed National Defence Forces (NDF) in Al-Khour Al-Sharqi area in Al-Mayadeen desert in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.

Clashes had erupted between the two sides, before NDF members withdrew from these posts to Al-Mayadeen. The clashes left some injured, amid unconfirmed reports of fatalities.

On April 10, SOHR activists documented the death of four Iranian-backed militiamen and injury of two others in an attack by ISIS cells on a military position near Al-Sukhnah city in the eastern countryside of Homs.

According to reliable SOHR sources, six injured people were transported in a 4×4 vehicle to Al-Sukhnah clinic, before four of them died affected by the wounds they sustained. While the two others remained in the clinic.

Observatory sources also reported seeing regime forces and Iranian-backed militias in Palmyra city on high alert to be ready in the case that ISIS launched any surprise attacks on military positions in the region.

A few hours earlier, SOHR sources reported that regime security services arrested three new members of the “National Defence Forces” from Al-Sukhnah town in the eastern countryside of Homs for “communicating with ISIS cells.” This development came days after the arrest of an NDF commander from Al-Sukhnah town for the same reason.
